POETRY : The Nectar of Life Page 9

The Pale Pages

Pages that turn flaky yellow
Remind of moments yester-years
When you n I were unaware
Of reciprocal life long peers.
Moth-filled surface
Were company alone
Of my heart unsatiated.

The moth of the pale pulp
Filled my horizon luminous
Like glowworms do in starry nights.
Ilumined but hollow,
My heart did beat
Of longed long loneliness.

Today I read the same paled pages
Aged and crooked,
lines of wrinkles prevailed ;
They smile through lines
Like old good friends
Assured with your presence.

On my lap, your dark head sways
As you relish the sun-pecked rays
Be it joy or dismay in store
Giddy's the heart for togetherness.

Losing your sight along trails of time
I turn around for prints
Of you n I close walking by
My palm held in ours sans amiss.

As I sit by the showers of sea
With my ancient mate
Turning the pages
I wonder why
For you do I await.
